Were you born in a barn?!!!

I wish I was!!  If they looked like all of these!  My friend growing up had a house her dad had built around an old barn.  I loved it!!  I am constantly looking at things with barn wood.  Anytime Mr. TSL sees anything with barn wood, he looks at me and says, "Oh, barn wood."  All longingly...he knows I'll love it!  He made us an antenna from a video he watched on youtube for the TV when everything went digital.  He attached it to a piece of barn wood for me, he loves me!!

This whole house is to die for!!  I love it!

Oh don't get me started on barn doors!!  Dana over at House Tweaking made these out of old fencing!

I really want to make one to cover the stairs instead of a baby gate.  But on that note, I need two baby gates...two sets of steps.  Plus, I am starting a daycare next school year because I really want to stay home with Audrey until Kindergarten.  I need the gates for other kids protection too!  That is my logic for buying the hardware to make a sliding barn door.  It's like $350...probably won't actually buy it, but I will make these:

I will be making 2 of these as soon as I finish I guess you actually have to start to say finish painting the hall way and the dining room.  I am currently patching some drywall issues and tearing the carpet off the long steps.  It's more time consuming than the three steps....there are 18 of them.  But, it's coming along.

The best part about these doors is that she used stir sticks as faux barn hinges!!

  2. I love the idea of a barn door baby gate. Too bad I don't have a baby.

I also want to convert 2 regular doors to those sliding doors with barn tracking. I couldn't pay the $700 - $800 cost. With some advice from a friend's friend, my husband and I are making our own. I was very skeptical on how it would look, but it's gonna look great. If you're interested, watch my blog because I'm going to have a tutorial in the next week or so. And the best part, it's cost is less than $50 per door. Much less actually, but I haven't figured it out just yet.
